AEGIS was founded in 2002 by Lt Col Tim Spicer and three partners - Mark Bullough, Jeffrey Day and Dominic Armstrong - with the strategic objective of providing risk management and security support to governments and multinational corporations, globally. They believed there
was a need in the marketplace for a company which had a thorough understanding of evolving threat and its consequences, with a simultaneous capability to deliver far broader solutions than mere physical security, at a time of rapidly evolving geopolitical change, worldwide. Their vision was to create a company that encapsulated the entire risk management process of threat identification, analysis and mitigation in a wide variety of scenarios, and it is this approach that most demonstratively differentiates Aegis from its main competitors today.
Tim Spicer, following a 20 year career in the Army and with exposure to the wider industry sector, is and was the visionary behind Aegis’s strategic development. Having managed a number of large contracts for other companies in the industry, he invited Mark Bullough, and Jeffrey Day to join him and create AEGIS. Mark Bullough, a colleague from the British Army, with a highly successful 20-year career in investment banking with Flemings, has focused on leading the external growth and development of the business whilst Jeffrey Day, an industrial entrepreneur with broad experience of start ups and high growth businesses across a diverse range of sectors, has provided the strategic management focus. Dominic Armstrong, a senior, strategic analyst and colleague of Mark Bullough in the banking sector joined shortly thereafter to develop and grow a research and intelligence analysis consultancy within the overall business.
This collective vision and experience has led to Aegis achieving a position as one of the world’s foremost providers of risk management services and it is now reputed to deliver the “Gold Standard” in contingency operations to Governments in hazardous environments. In parallel with this development the Founders have been at the forefront of the move to recognise, regulate and legitimise what is in effect a new and dynamic, global industry. They are extremely proud of AEGIS’s track record of security service delivery which has been widely praised by numerous government-controlled audit bodies which have examined the Company’s operations over the past seven years and AEGIS now has a track record of executing a wide range of challenging and innovative missions in extremely dangerous environments having conducted projects in over 40 countries, on behalf of eighteen Governments, the United Nations and many, leading multi-national corporations.
Although AEGIS has grown significantly and now employs professional management to cover all day-to-day business activities, the Founders’ primary interests and passion remain constant and they continue to provide the strategic drive for continued growth on behalf of the wider AEGIS Group.
