We are delighted to announce that on the 9th November 2010 Aegis attended the signing ceremony of the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers hosted by the Swiss Government in Geneva.

At the Ceremony, Aegis was among companies who signed the Code, witnessed by representatives of governments, civil society and other stakeholders. Aegis has been actively involved in the detailed development and drafting of the Code, working closely with civil society and government agencies to create a robust Code that promotes the protection of Human Rights, sets key standards for ethical behaviour, develops accountability and transparency within the industry, and codifies best practice amongst the industries leaders.

The Code acts as an imperative first step from which measurable and enforceable standards will be developed and, ultimately, a credible international accountability mechanism will be established. Aegis will continue to support and develop the Code as it enters its secondary phase; the development and implementation of an appropriate accountability mechanism.

Aegis has a proven, and recognized, history of operating with the highest professional and ethical standards in the industry and is proud to be part of bringing together the best in government and non-government to develop and adopt this Code. As private security companies face rapidly changing missions and increasingly complex and dangerous operating environments, Aegis contends that regulation such as the Code is necessary to improve accountability, transparency and oversight, as well as to better serve and protect its clients while enabling their missions.

The Aegis delegation consisted of Maj Gen Graham Binns CEO, signing on behalf of Aegis Defence Services Limited; Kristi Clemens Rogers, President and CEO, signing on behalf of Aegis Defense Services LLC, and Lt Col Tim Spicer representing and signing on behalf of the wider Aegis Group. Jeffrey Day and Sylvia White were also in attendance.
